The Intermediate ‘A’ Shamrocks got off to a good start Friday at the Provincial tournament taking place in Delta, defeating the Port Coquitlam Saints by a 13-6 score. I don’t have any statistical details at this point but if received, I’ll post them here.
In Friday’s other ‘A’ game, it was Coquitlam squeaking out a 5-4 victory against the Delta Islanders.
Games continue today with the Adanacs facing the Saints in the later game while the Shamrocks will tangle with the Islanders at 2:00. All games are taking place in the Ladner Leisure Center.
For those of you interested in play on the ‘B’ side of the intermediate provincials, Juan de Fuca fell 10-6 in their tournament opener to Coquitlam. They will face off at 11:30 today against the team from Richmond
Head to head against Delta, the Shamrocks won at home 12-9 on June 20 but lost 9-6 on April 26 and 8-6 on May 9 on the mainland. The teams finished with identical 15-6 records in league play, the Islanders claiming second place on the strength of the 2 victories. Delta is led in scoring by Mike Mallory with 25 goals and 26 assists. Logan Schuss played only 10 games and finished with 47 points, having spent a good part of the season playing up for the Jr. A Islanders.
